Guides for better word play
Strategy, reference and behind-the-scenes explanations to help you play better, not just faster.
These guides are written to stand on their own, whether or not you ever use one of our tools. Each one tackles a single question a word game player actually has: how to keep a rack that makes bingos, which Wordle opener narrows the field fastest, how Words With Friends scoring differs from Scrabble, and what a word solver does with your letters.
Where a claim can be measured, we measure it. Letter frequencies, bingo stems and starting-word comparisons are calculated directly from our 172,830 word dictionary every time the site is updated, so the numbers always match what the tools return. Rules facts such as tile values and bonuses are checked against each game's published rules. If you think something is wrong, tell us and we will fix it; every change is logged on our What's new page.
