Playing the X well
The X is worth 8 points and is the most flexible high-value tile in the game. It forms two-letter words with several vowels (AX, EX, OX, XI, XU), which means you can almost always play it parallel to a word on the board for two scores at once.
That flexibility makes the X a great tile to hold for one turn while you set up a premium square, but do not hold it for long.
